Be Different, Tell a Story
Selling directly puts you at level with 90% of your competition because it is everyone’s go-to habit for closing a deal. Selling directly is the simplest thing to do but it doesn’t build your brand name or do you any favors in terms of earning your customers trust. In fact, your audience will most likely see you as a nuisance if this is your main method of interacting with your customers.
Annoying Buy Me Now Messages
Here is an example of direct selling:”Purchase our blank product today!” or “Are you looking for blank service? Give us a call now!”
These examples are short burst buy me messages that offer no solution scenario. There is no context of what the product or service is doing for the customer. In addition, there is not any appealing content that demonstrates the dedication of the brand to its customers.
Why Story Telling is a Superior Method of Selling
A better tactic that is far more mutually beneficial for the customer and the vendor is telling a story. Telling a story gives your brand a real identity because your company is now tackling a specific or a set of scenarios that your product provides solutions for. Giving context to your customers is everything because you are demonstrating how your company’s goods can enrich their lives.
The most successful brand names such as Redbull, Verizon tell relatable stories that strike a chord with their audience. For instance, RedBull speaks to our inner adrenaline junkie, people who seek more energy. They do so by hiring top athletes and extreme sportsmen to do what they do while drinking Redbull. This gives you the clear indication that Redbull is best used before doing big things, and allows you to maintain better focus and higher levels of energy. Verizon constantly shows us commercials of people being stranded out in the middle of nowhere with no reception, and then comes along the Verizon spokesperson who shows up with a cell phone that has reception.
Begin Improving Your Companie’s Story Telling
One of the best ways to start your companies storytelling message is to create high-quality content. This content can be video, photo, written, graphics, and more. The best thing to do is to combine all of these into set campaigns that deliver a specific message. Getting this content out to you audience is a whole different story (digital marketing) that I will go into in another post, but for now you should consider hiring talent to create proessional web content for your company.
