Call to action means any desired action you want your audience to take when interacting with your digital asset.

For example, let’s say you are running a recruiting advertisement on indeed to find a new marketer. The call to action for the ad would most likely be for the prospect to submit his resume.

Here is another example. Let’s say you just opened a pizza restaurant. You begin advertising on grub hub to get more to-go orders. On grub hub, you advertise your pizza special with the call to action being to place an order. This call to action is a big button that said “order now”

So in a nutshell, a call to action is an action you want your audience to take with your brand.
